Standing seam roofing is a system using metal delivered in sheets or small coils, which are seamed directly on the roof by the installer. One century ago, only zinc was used for standing seam roofs.
The new generation of standing seam roofs now uses steel, with various colours, such as Granite® HDX offers. The metal usually used is very soft (DX54 or DX56) and highly formable to allow the seaming. Steel can be installed exactly the same way as zinc or copper. Distance between seams is often 600mm and the steel thickness in commonly 0.6mm.
For Granite® HDX, we recommend a substrate with a zinc layer of minimum 275g/sqm.
